CBSE Board Exams 2021: Should Exams Be Conducted Offline or Online? Poll Here

CBSE board exams 2021 are all set to begin from 4 May amidst calls for cancellation or postponement due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the country

CBSE board exams 2021 seem to have become a cause of worry for thousands of students and parents across the country. Due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the country, students claim that they are ‘tensed’ and ‘depressed’ due to the uncertainty and fear surrounding the examinations. While most of them claim to be prepared for examinations, they have been requesting cancellation or postponement due to fear of getting infected from the disease.

Students and parents also say that examinations could be conducted online as all classes were conducted online throughout the year. Furthermore, several states including New Delhi have now closed all schools for examination-related activities due to the pandemic. “10and 12 CBSE Board exams should be cancelled. The cases have been rising more exponentially than 2020. India just crossed the 1 lakh mark since 2020 for the first time. It’s not correct and fair to take exams in such a scenario. And not to mention the online classes. How do you expect a 12th std student to study the whole course online and then go and give board exams when they haven’t given any physical exam in over a year? This is very unfair,” says a student Radhika.

Prominent figures such as Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are also now asking CBSE to reconsider its decision to conduct examinations. “In the light of the devastating Corona second wave, conducting CBSE board exams must be reconsidered. All stakeholders must be consulted before making sweeping decisions. On how many counts does GOI intend to play with the future of India’s youth?” says Rahul Gandhi.

However, CBSE so far has maintained that adequate measures have been taken to ensure the safe conduct of CBSE board exams. Furthermore, a section of students also says that they are well prepared to give examinations. “Board exams definitely need to happen, and this hue and cry on corona is now like any other infection which in any case now we know how to handle, boards and exams are must and one can conduct in their own schools with all classrooms booked for boards,” says Poonam Mehra who echoes the views of several others who say that the world must get accustomed to the new normal.

Nevertheless, those who are for or against offline examinations can take the following poll to make authorities take a note of their voice:
