UiPath launched an enterprise automation platform that merges AI agents, robotic process automation (RPA), and human input into integrated, orchestrated workflows. The new release seeks to solve the long-term challenges that CIOs confront when attempting to operationalise AI at scale, particularly those relating to governance, reliability, integration and flexibility of vendors.

This new offering represents UiPath’s expansion into what they call agentic automation---a system in which autonomous AI agents can carry out business tasks collaboratively with software bots and humans and within clear constraints defined by the organisation.

The platform is now available for trial via UiPath’s website, with general availability for all features expected in May 2025.

What Is Agentic Automation?

Advertisment

Agentic automation refers to a framework where AI agents can act autonomously within a business process while being orchestrated and governed at scale. These agents are designed to handle decision-making, interpret intent, execute tasks across systems, and collaborate with human users and bots.

Unlike isolated chatbots or pilot AI projects, agentic automation integrates tightly with enterprise workflows, helping businesses address automation needs that span departments, platforms, and compliance environments.

Key Components and Capabilities

1. UiPath Maestro for Orchestration
The platform introduces UiPath Maestro, a control layer for managing the interaction between AI agents, RPA bots, and people. It includes features for end-to-end process modeling, KPI tracking, and performance optimization.

2. Agent Builder for Diverse Developer Needs
The platform supports both low-code and full-code development. Business technologists can quickly prototype AI agents, while experienced developers can fully customize them within UiPath Studio.

3. Security and Governance Features
Agent activity is governed through a controlled agency model, which includes data access controls, real-time vulnerability scanning, and strict policy enforcement—addressing major concerns in regulated industries.

4. Integration with Third-Party AI Frameworks
UiPath’s open approach allows integration with frameworks like LangChain, Anthropic, and Microsoft, as well as support for Google Cloud’s new Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol. This ensures interoperability between agents and reduces the risk of vendor lock-in.

5. Scalable Intelligent Document Processing (IDP)
A new component, UiPath IXP, enables multi-modal AI-based classification and data extraction from unstructured documents—useful for processes such as loan origination, insurance claims, and compliance-heavy documentation.

6. UI Agent (Preview)
Currently in private preview, the UI Agent leverages natural language processing to interpret user intent, plan multi-step tasks, and act across multiple interfaces—offering a more intelligent alternative to traditional UI automation.

Industry Adoption and Early Use Cases

Since its private preview began in January 2025, the platform has been used to create thousands of autonomous agents, with over 75,000 agent executions logged. Over 11,000 developers have enrolled in agentic automation training through the company’s academy, and more than 30 implementation partners have earned specialised credentials.

“With this launch, we’re entering the next phase of our journey,” said Daniel Dines, Founder and CEO of UiPath. “The new platform brings together AI, RPA, and human input to help businesses build more intelligent and resilient workflows—without increasing complexity. As AI hardware and models become more standardised, the strategic value shifts to how intelligence is orchestrated. That’s where our focus lies—alongside our continued mission to empower people to be more creative, productive, and impactful.”

Organisations in sectors such as aviation, financial services, and healthcare are exploring use cases that combine automation, AI, and human input to improve decision-making and reduce operational friction.

Lawrence Fong, Director of Digital and IT at Cathay, noted, “Agentic automation is the next big leap in AI transformation that will allow companies to rapidly scale, make smarter decisions, and quickly adapt to changing business demands.”

“We aim for over 95% accuracy with each agent deployment. Ensuring reliability and trust is central to our Agent Builder roadmap, as we work toward delivering agents that can perform at near human-level standards—while maintaining strict governance and safeguards,” said Raghu Malpani, Chief Technology Officer at UiPath.
