Focus of BFSI strengthened, contributed 70% of its revenues
US accounted for 71% of its revenues
Birlasoft, the software services company of the Birla clan, continued its focus on the BFSI vertical during the previous year. This momentum gathered pace in 2002-03, when 54% of the revenues came from this vertical. The number for the previous year stood at 70%. Energy that contributed nearly a fourth of the total revenue in 2002-03 was totally absent last fiscal. The contribution from IT and telecom dropped to just 5% last year from 13% to the year before that. The company's efforts to strengthen its offshore capabilities have brought marginal increment in its offshore development business, but it still continues to be less than one third of the total pie. And US continues to be the home to its largest customer base, contributing 71% to its total revenue. Though the company had projected to scale to 1,898 employees by the end of last fiscal, it could only manage 1,640, up from the 1,290 in 2002-03.
