BHU to Soon Invite Applications from Students: Eligibility Criteria, Cut-offs and More

BHU invites application

Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, will begin accepting applications for undergraduate degrees on 21 May of this year. The institution now offers over 700 programs, including Economics, Sociology, BSc in Zoology, Geography, BA LLB, and BA Hons in Arts, Dance, Indian Languages, and Physics, to mention a few. According to a statement, admissions to 33 courses would be handled by the National Testing Agency's Common University Entrance Test (CUET). (NTA)

Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya founded Banaras Hindu University in 1916 with the assistance of Dr. Annie Besant under Parliamentary law - BHU Act 1915. Why is BHU the best choice for CUET candidates?

Banaras Hindu University, governed centrally, got 4.34 lakh applications through CUET in 2022, making it the second university to get many such applications. BHU intends to hold entrance tests for 33 courses via CUET this year. 

Scholarships for BHU Students: A range of university, state, and federal government scholarships are available to students from diverse categories, including SC, ST, individuals with disabilities, OBC, single girls, economically challenged sections, distinguished students, and so on. Furthermore, the university has partnerships with several non-governmental groups to help students from various backgrounds financially. 

The institution has established a scholarship initiative for students from low-income families. As part of the initiative, the eligible student's bank account would receive a yearly transfer of Rs 25,000. The university's second scholarship would give Divyang students Rs 25,000 each year.

Programme length: The university provides various programs, and the duration of the programmes varies. Undergraduate programmes last three years, postgraduate programmes two years, and diploma programmes last one or two years, depending on the diploma programme. 

Hostels: BHU includes 76, with distinct sections for males, girls, and international students. There are around 41 hostels for boys, 21 for ladies, and four for international students. Institutes or faculties organise the hostels. 

Rankings of BHU: The National Institute of Ranking Framework 2022 ranked BHU eleventh in the overall category and sixth in the university category. BHU was ranked between 401 and 450 in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) ranking and 601-800 in the Times Higher Ranking (THR).
