Last year ADP missed being part of the Top20 by a whisker and stood at #21. However in FY11 it performed a coup of sorts by climbing up 7 ranks and entered into the top 15. Indeed an achievement and what has contributed to this impressive elevation are 3 key areasprofessional accomplishment, salary, and the company taking employee feedback and ideas seriously.
On the flip side, the areas the company secured lower rating revolved around parameters like perks and benefits, appraisal transparency, and constructive regular feedback from the managers. Reacting to these feedbacks, the companys HR head attributes the lower ratings might be due to the timing of the survey as employees had gone through the performance appraisal process and waiting for the results. Notwithstanding that the company would be more seriously looking at manager feedback to employees on a regular basis.
While manager employee feedback might be little lower but when it comes to taking new ideas from the employees, the company had fostered a very proactive mechanism. For instance, last year alone the company received close to 3,000 ideas from its employees, and a good deal of them got implemented also. These ideas pertain to process improvement, feedbacks, etc.
Meanwhile, the company does provide host of benefits other than salary like mandatory holiday, medical insurance, and other perks. But still a section of employees were not satisfied on this front and that pulled down its overall scores here. On salary hikes in which many companies struggle to get higher ratings but in the case of ADP, it is on the higher side and that secured a favorable place.
Overall ADPs employees are a satisfied lot in FY11 and its impressive escalation compared to last year bear testimony. Looking ahead, the company will be closely looking at its training budgets and would be devising ways and means in optimizing it for greater RoI. Clearly it intends to map more closely on how the trainings had impacted its employees and in return how it has benefited them and the company.
