BARC has invited applications from interested engineers for its DAE Doctoral Fellowship Scheme set to commence from August 2021

BARC is currently accepting applications from engineers for admission in to DAE Doctoral Fellowship Scheme (DDFS), which is for pursuing PhD under the aegis of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI). Selected candidates will be engaged from August 2021 onwards, and the fellowship will be tenable for a period of three years. Those selected will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 60,000.

Who can Apply for BARC DAE Doctoral Fellowship Scheme?

According to the official notification issued on the BARC website, candidates an ME, MTech or equivalent postgraduate degree in the streams of chemical, computer, electrical, electronics, instrumentation, mechanical, metallurgical or materials, or nuclear engineering with a minimum of 60% marks can apply.

Furthermore, applicants should have also obtained 60% marks in their BE or BTech as well. Candidates who wish to apply for BARC PhD admission 2021 will have to be Indian citizens who were born on or after 1 August 1993. However, the age limit is relaxable by three years for OBC non-creamy layer and by five years for SC or ST applicants. Persons with Disability (PWD) of all categories are eligible for further age relaxation of 10 years, says the notification.

Where Will Students Selected for BARC DAE Doctoral Fellowship Scheme Be Placed

Students who qualify for the BARC fellowship will get to do their PhD in one of the following four institutions:

  • Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai.
  • Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam.
  • Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar.
  • Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), Kolkata.

Selection Process for BARC DAE Doctoral Fellowship Scheme

Applicants will first have to appear for a written test, which will be held around 21 March 2021, after which candidates will be shortlisted for selection interview based on their performance in the screening test as well as on previous academic record. 25% weightage will be given to BE or BTech percentage, 25% weightage for average of ME or MTech Semester-I and II percentages and the BARC screening exam will carry 50% weightage.

Interested and eligible candidates would be required to submit online applications on the official website before 28 February 2021. Admit cards for the screening test can be downloaded 4 March 2021 onwards. The final list of selected candidates will be displayed on 3 May 2021.
