BARC Invites Applications for Diploma in Radiological Physics, Stipend Rs 25,000

BARC is currently accepting applications for a one-year for Diploma in Radiological Physics. The course will be conducted by the Radiological Physics and Advisory Division (RP&AD) of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), and the degree has been offered since 1962. The course is scheduled to begin from August 2021, and a total of 30 seats are being offered out of which 25 are for non-sponsored students, and 5 are for sponsored students. The non-sponsored students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 25,000.

The non-sponsored candidates will be admitted into the course based on their performance in a common entrance test, which will be conducted in May 2021. Shortlisted candidates will then be interviewed, after which they will be selected for the course. However, sponsored candidates will be selected through interview and hence only eligible sponsored candidates will be called for the interview directly.

What the BARC for Diploma in Radiological Physics Will Cover

The course will cover the following topics for a period of one year, including practical and field training relevant to the practice of medical physicists and radiological safety officers:

  • Radiation physics.
  • Applied mathematics.
  • Principles of radiation detection and measurement.
  • Radiation dosimetry and standardization.
  • Radiation biology.
  • Applications of ionizing radiation and radioisotopes in medicine, industry, agriculture and research.
  • Physics of radiotherapy and medical imaging; transport of radioactive materials, radiation safety and regulatory aspects, radiation hazard evaluation and control; radiation emergencies and its management.

Who Can Apply for BARC Diploma in Radiological Physics?

Those who wish to apply for the course should have completed their MSc in physics with 60 percent marks in all semesters or years. In addition, the candidate should possess a BSc with physics as the main subject with not less than 60% marks in aggregate. Those who are awaiting final year results may also apply. Furthermore, sponsored candidates should have at least one-year of working experience in a Radiotherapy Department of Government Institution in India.

How to Apply for BARC Diploma in Radiological Physics?

Interested and eligible candidates would be required to apply on the official recruit.barc.gov.in website before 5 April 2021. Also, a non-refundable application processing fee of Rs 500 needs to be paid while submitting applications. For payment of fee, candidates should click on the ‘Make Payment’ option under the ‘My Account’ menu.
