BARC Extends Online Application Date for 105 JRF Vacancies, Stipend Rs 31,000

BARC is accepting online applications from students for 105 Junior Research Fellow vacancies, and those selected will receive a stipend of Rs 31,000

BARC has extended the last date for online applications for 105 Junior Research Fellow vacancies available at the organisations. All the selected candidates will also register for a PhD at the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI). which is deemed to be University of Department of Atomic Energy. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is offering JRF in the fields of physical, chemical and biological sciences, and selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 31,000 to begin with, which will go up to Rs 35,000 per month in the third year.

Who can Apply for the 105 JRF Vacancies at BARC?

The official notification issued on the BARC website says that candidates who have secured consistently good academic record and have attained a minimum of 60% aggregate in BSc and 55% aggregate in MSc from a recognized university, along with a valid score in national level entrance examinations like GATE, NET, JEST and so on, may apply for the JRF vacancies available in the following streams:

  • Physical sciences: Charged particle accelerator development, nuclear physics using accelerators, neutrino-related experiments, astrophysics using gamma-ray telescopes, plasma physics, laser-based physics, spectroscopy of atoms and molecules, and condensed matter physics at low temperature among others.
  • Chemical sciences: Nuclear and radiochemistry, actinide chemistry, radiopharmaceuticals, radiation processing, solid-state and high-temperature chemistry, nuclear materials, nanomaterials, electrochemistry, spectroscopy, chemistry using lasers, advanced separation techniques, analytical sciences, and other related topics.
  • Life sciences: Mutation breeding, plant and agriculture biotechnology, radiation effects on cells, radio-resistance, prokaryotic stress biology, bioremediation, genetic engineering, radiation treatment of food, food preservation and packaging, biosensors, cancer biology and diagnostics, cancer therapeutics, immunology, microbiome, and so on.

Candidates with an MSc or integrated MSc in fisheries, horticulture, forestry, agronomy, animal husbandry, bio-analytical sciences, polymer, medicinal, pharmaceutical, and home science are not eligible to apply. Applicants cannot be over 28 years of age as on the last date for receipt of application. However, age relaxation has been allowed of up to 3 years in case of other backward class applicants, 5 years in case of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe applicants and 10 years in case of persons with disabilities applicants.

How to Apply for JRF Vacancies in BARC?

All applications need to be submitted online on the official website before 31 March 2021. There is an online application fee of Rs 500 that needs to be paid. However, women candidates and candidates belonging to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe and person with disabilities need not pay any fee.
