At #5 is Bangalore-based Aztec Software and Technology Services, a new
entrant and listed in fiscal 2000. The company came out with a public issue in
November 2000, offering the Rs 3 face value share at a premium of Rs 77 per
share. Aztec is engaged in providing e-engineering solutions and works as a
product development partner for major US companies. It provides solutions to
ASPs and B2B and Internet start-ups. Aztec is one of the high-profile companies
promoted by KB Chandrasekhar, founder of US-based Exodus. Consequent to the
dot-com bust, the company witnessed heavy selling in the market and is currently
quoted at below offer price. Nonetheless, its performance was excellent, with
revenues growing by a whopping 429% to Rs 80.63 crore in the year ended March
2001. Its net profit jumped by 465% to Rs 18.53 crore. Gross block too jumped by
144% to Rs 13.35 crore. Aztec was ranked at #2 in sales growth, #3 in profit
growth and #5 in gross block growth.
