Amazon Web Services (AWS) today announced that it trains over 2 million individuals, and continues to bridge the cloud skills gap in India. India is riding a wave of innovation, which relies heavily on a digital workforce equipped to meet the rising demand for cloud computing.

Puneet Chandok, President of Commercial Business, AWS India and South Asia, AISPL, said AWS is making history globally on an unprecedented scale. There are 84 Availability Zones (AZ), with 26 new AZs announced. AWS is fully committed to investing in India. There are 3 AZs, 26 Points of Presence, and 7 Direct Connect locations across India.

Phil Davis, MD of Asia Pacific and Japan Commercial Sales, AWS, talked about the mission of AWS to skill India. Cloud skills training is the need of the hour. AWS is bridging the cloud skills gap. Over 3.5 million people in APJ have been trained on the cloud, with over 2 million people from India.

AWS has customized cohort-based skilling programs. These look at building the future talent pool, upskill the professional talent pool, and empower a diverse talent pool. The last one is a 12-week restart program for the unemployed and underprivileged learners. It also has 'She Dares' with 'Aspire for Her' for skilling women on the cloud.

AWS is driving employability and employment. AWS Employer Engagement team enables employers to attract talented recruitment of cloud skills. AWS has created jpint success with partners and customers, such as Perfios, TCS, TechM, and Capgemini. Foundational AWS courses are available on portals such as NASSCOM and NSDC, aligning with the government skilling initiatives.

An AWS-commissioned research report from AlphaBeta, titled, Building Digital Skills for the Changing Workforce, found that by 2025, 63% of workers in India will feel the need for training in cloud-related skills to progress in their careers. Three of the top five most demanded digital skills by 2025 will be cloud-related.
