Astric Group signs MOU with NIELIT for Digital Literacy & awareness

In a bid to promote Digital Literacy and awareness programme in the State of Bihar, Astric Computers (I) Pvt. Ltd. has signed an MOU with National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) under Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India. Astric has now become a part of the NDLM Project in Bihar will run the training courses as per the guidelines of National Digital Literacy Mission in the region. The Mission here is to encourage and mobilise at-least 1 participant from every house and ensure digital awareness. This is a nationwide project and Bihar is one of the focus region as the formal education level here is not up to the national average. The objective is to overcome illiteracy thr’u digital inclusion to ensure successes of the mega Digital India project.

Briefing the media, Mr. Prabhat Sinha, Member of Bihar ICT Core Committee and Vice Chairman CII – Bihar State Council said that Bihar is undergoing a massive transformation after taking care of infrastructure, roads, bridges, healthcare, IT, Education and services. The last decade has shown that India Inc. has picked up the good governance practices from Bihar like Jeevika, RTS act etc. Now, there is a major push towards digital literacy and awareness and Departments like Women’s development Corporation, Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission, Bihar Rural Livelihood Projects are to name a few who are focused on training and capacity building with continuous thrust on employability & economic development.

Yes, there is a huge potential of IT Investment and employment in our state which need to be leveraged and give a new dimension towards inclusive development in Bihar. The state now recognises ICT as a core ingredient to its transformation by the year 2020.Bihar currently offers and how it plans to drive its transformational agenda through usage of Information and Communication technologies and growth of IT sector as a whole. The major thrust is how can Digital literacy overcomes illiteracy. We already had a pilot using Tablets with embedded applications to SHG registered illiterate women’s and initial training has been done using basic Tablet with integrated application during e-Bihar. We also appreciate the focus for Skill Development, ICT Investment which will certainly help Bihar emerge as a preferred IT & ITES destination for transformation in a big way.

Another area which the state is eyeing upon is delivering the majority of day to day G2C services at grassroots level which also promotes transparency and open new avenues of Entrepreneurship Opportunities like Rural BPO, Private IT Park, EMC Cluster, Incubation Centre and ICT infrastructure in Bihar. Government is looking forward towards enabling CSC’s for delivering various Citizen Centric Services. The way Digital and Skill India initiatives is pumped into states opportunities are widening for Pvt Players and entrepreneurs to interface with the emerging requirements. It seems Bihar will soon become a model state in terms of e-Services Delivery with the types of initiatives Central and State Government has pulled in opening an new horizons of economic development debate globally.
