Are Woman travelers leading Online Travel Booking & Cancellation?

Women lead traveling and booking more tickets online as well as cancellation after the confirmed bookings. Increasing population of working women is changing the dynamics of online ticket booking, especially in IT-centric cities and in India, many women are booking tickets on bus routes like Bangalore-Hyderabad and Delhi-Jaipur. Women prefer to be at home or office rather than go out and stand in a queue for tickets. Men look for discounts and low prices, while women prefer convenience and trust.

Pratik Mazumder, head of marketing & strategic alliance at Yatra.com says, "As such we don't have any data that hints at the fact that women cancel more tickets. However, they seem to be more organized and planned in their making their itinerary therefore lesser changes."

According to the monthly info graphics published by Goibibo.com, interesting fact which became apparent was that the top routes for travel plan changes have been found to be Bangalore-Delhi and vice-versa. Cancellation for Bengaluru-Delhi encompasses 35% of women travelers and 30% of men and cancellations from Delhi-Bengaluru consists of 31% of women and 27% of men travelers.

Mr Mazumder further adds," Definitely we have witnessed a particular trend in women bookings. The metro routes between Delhi-Mumbai & Mumbai-Bengaluru have a higher skew of women passengers obviously due to official travel."

According to a report by Goibibo.com, 25% of Indian travelers change their travel plan after confirmed booking. 20% women change their travel plans compared to men. According to the research report, the top routes for travel plan changes have been found to be Bengaluru-Delhi and vice versa followed by Mumbai-Delhi.

The top 5 reasons for the same are: 'Change in business travel plans', extension of stay at destination', 'travelers health issues', 'personal or family emergency', and 'change in flight timings' by the airlines. Women have been found to change their travel plans more frequently than men. It has also been seen that Bengaluru has the highest number of women travelers followed by Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Delhi.
