Applied Materials, Inc., the global leader in materials engineering solutions for the semiconductor, flat panel display and solar photovoltaic industries, announced the appointment of Srinivas Satya as Country President for Applied Materials India. Mr. Satya succeeds Aninda Moitra, who will join the leadership team of the company’s Transistor and Interconnect Group.

Srinivas Satya brings nearly two decades of experience to his new role, having successfully led several businesses and strategic functions within Applied. Most recently he was head of business development and portfolio management for the company’s semiconductor business.  Satya will be responsible for the company’s overall India strategy and execution. He will focus on driving revenue opportunities in the region and increasing the technology and product development capabilities in India to drive innovation and growth for Applied. He will continue to work closely with the company’s ecosystem partners in India to achieve leadership in semiconductor, display and energy and environmental industries. Accelerating engineering innovation in the region will be a key focus area for Mr. Satya, in line with the company’s strategy to leverage regional competencies in engineering and IT, and to enable faster development of industry-leading technologies and products.

“As former head of business development for Applied’s semiconductor business, Srinivas will help identify key revenue opportunities and ensure sustained growth in India for Applied Materials,” said Dr. Randhir Thakur, executive vice president and general manager of the Silicon Systems Group. “Srinivas will also work towards strengthening our successful partnership ecosystem in India across academia, governmental and non-governmental organizations. I would like to see successes similar to our engagement with IIT Bombay, which laid the foundation for building a semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India.

Added Dr. Gino Addiego, senior vice president of engineering at Applied Materials, “Srinivas’ technology background and business experience make him ideally suited to drive innovation and engineering expertise at Applied Materials India. Ours being an industry where success is directly proportional to technology innovation, it is imperative to stay ahead of technology advancements to continue being the leader in markets we serve. I would like to thank Aninda Moitra for his strong leadership in India and wish him success in his new role within the company."

According to Srinivas Satya, “I am excited to take on this new role, especially in light of the industry developments in India, which have a positive impact on our business. Applied Materials India has evolved into a vital center of engineering and IT excellence for the company, with established centers of competency in computer aided engineering and reliability, multiple labs supporting mechanical and electrical systems design, verification and reliability testing, and a strong partnership with Indian academia. I look forward to working with our industry partners and our employees in driving growth for Applied as well as the entire semiconductor ecosystem in India.”

Satya holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business at Berkeley, a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.
