"Everything about Apple Watch Series 4 has been redeveloped and reengineered, and it's just beautiful. It all starts with the stunning new display, pushing the screen to the edges and curving the corners. They're 30% larger screens. We've done this with minimal changes to the case size. It's thinner, and every part of the UI has been redesigned. You'll see more in maps, photos, calendar, and we've created new complications that show even more information and detail. We've designed a brand new watch face with up to 8 complications, and you can customize it with the things you really care about," said Jeff Williams, Apple COO.

The move that is, however, that is now creating ripples is the amount of importance Apple is paying to health and especially to the heart rate of consumers. The accelerometer and gyroscope in the Apple Watch Series can handle all day tracking, and identify swim strokes. The watch can now identify a trip from a fall or a slip and notify for help to the emergency contacts on the device if users need assistance. If an Apple Watch Series 4 user falls and remains immobile for 1 minute, the device will automatically call SOS. It will also send user's location to emergency contacts.

The path breaking innovation, however, is that Apple Watch Series 4 can now detect low heart rate in addition to high heart rate. It can screen heart rhythm in the background and identify atrial fibrillation. The Watch can also take ECG or electrocardiogram with the electrodes in the sapphire crystal and digital crown. All ECG recordings are stored in the Health app users can share as a PDF with their doctors. ECGs can be taken anytime, anywhere by opening the app and putting user's finger on the digital crown. Apple has received de novo clearance from the FDA for the same.

Watch Series 4 will be available from 17 September at $399 for the variant with GPS and without cellular, $499 for cellular with GPS variant and Series 3 will be made affordable at $279.
