The IRC (International Robotics Competition) was started in 2009 to redirect the attention that was given on memorization of factual information, which in long run completely kills the creativity and original thinking which is bound to blossom in the minds of our children.

The Higher Order Thinking Skills like Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Innovation (all prerequisites for a knowledge society) are mostly side lined for memorization of theorems, mathematical tables, historical facts etc. This has systemically led to the decay of culture of excellence and originality in our country. Further, when these children end up growing into adults – they lack both behavioural and technical skills to prosper in the world of today and tomorrow.

This lack, of key skills, essentially leads to most of the problems present in our society (like unemployment, stress, violence).

With this thought as our driving force, we have been conducting the IRC League.The League that aims to become a source of inspiration and motivation for young minds to consciously take up careers in the domains of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) with a clear aim to innovate and thereby shape the future.

The league shall capture the attention of young minds by giving them problems and challenges that not only stretch their imagination but also are burning issues.

Till the last year the focus of the league was to establish itself as the biggest STEM competition in India, however, this year we had taken a long leap as we took this experience of challenging young minds from across the globe to The United States of America. Next Year the winning students will compete with teams from across the world in Singapore.

The event, a brain child of Building Blocks Learning Solutions, belongs to a Delhi based experiential learning enterprise that fosters the love for science and mathematics and initiates the spirit of innovation at the foundation years. IRC evokes a huge interest in the school going children and has seen an exponential increase in participation. Children, their teachers and even parents invest many hours and brain cells into making a winning robot for India's biggest school level robotics event.

Building Blocks has designed challenging problem statements one each for Junior level, Middle level and Senior level inviting children of all ages to be a part of this one of its kind event. Children are required to build manually controlled and autonomous(only for senior level) robots to solve the given problems laid out on brilliant problem arenas. The designs conceptualized by these young minds are absolutely awe inspiring and hinted the genius building blocks is carving out of them.

The themes for this year for all age groups is to solve problems relating to make in India;
