In order to meet customer requirements, that are bound to increase owing to the upcoming festive season, Amazon India has announced the creation of over 1 lakh seasonal jobs. The new employees ill join Amazon India’s existing network of associates and will assist them in picking, packing, shipping, and delivering customer orders efficiently.
Amazon India hopes to boost the company’s fulfillment and delivery capabilities to meet the surge in customer demand this festive season through the new seasonal positions. “We remain committed to creating job opportunities across the country, specially at a time when the pandemic has posed challenges in earning livelihood for many,” Akhil Saxena, vice president - APAC, MENA and LATAM Customer Fulfilment Operations, Amazon India.
The company, through a blog post, has also stated that “tens of thousands of indirect opportunities” have been created as well through its partner networks which include trucking partners, packaging vendors, ‘I Have Space’ delivery partners, Amazon Flex partners and housekeeping agencies. Saxena added in the blog post that Amazon India will remain committed creating job opportunities all across India, specially at a time when the pandemic has posed challenges in earning livelihood for many.
Amazon India, earlier this year, had announced the creation of over 50,000 job opportunities to deliver essential and non-essential items to customers during the lockdown. The company reiterates that it is committed to creating over 1 million new job opportunities in India by 2025 through continued investments in technology, infrastructure, and its logistics network.
