Online retail stores like Flipkart, India Times and Snapdeal, deaing with office supplies have a competition now. A Bangalore based company, Zuri, dealing with hospitality, realty, floriculture and green energy, launched an online office supply portal called Zoffio.
Zuri would be investing USD 25 million on this new portal for a period of three years. Zoffio plans to expand logistics to over 12 cities in India. This office supply portal would be quite attractive, because the large market scenario is very unorganised in India. The office supply market in India, which is mainly dominated by the small local stores amounts to about USD 25 billion.
Opening an online retail venture is quite a smart move for Zuri, which had a turnover of 400 crore in the fiscal year 2013. It is also one among the few corporates to launch an online retail portal. Considering the small market, this is quite advantageous for the company as well.
Inspired by Zuri, companies like Future Group, Madura Garments, Shoppers Stop would also launch E-commerce portals soon.
