"Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, which has been a leader in India in EPABX/IPBX and unified communications solutions for enterprise users is looking at a significant growth in the India market," says Gerard Sillars, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise vice president for Asia Pacific.

The company offers solutions in communications, networking and cloud solutions from large enterprises to small businesses. Working 100% through systems integrators, the advent of cloud, has seen the company in India get quite a bit of successes as it offers customers very compelling opex models. With a team of almost 500 employees spread across the country, the company wants to be the most favored partner for network on demand and wireless of demand solutions.

The verticals where the company claims to be very strong include manufacturing, hospitality, healthcare, government, and transportation. Some of its leading customers in India include Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Alstom, the Hero Group, IFFCO, UltraTech Cement, Tata Memorial, Fortis, Max Healthcare, IGI Airport, Defence Ministry, etc.

"We are actually replacing Cisco from some of the places", informed Sanjay Sapru, regional director, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, South Asia. The main mantra for their success in the market is to "be a agile and customer focused and offer state of the art technology solutions", adds Sillars. As the country embarks on the smart cities journey, the company is very closely working on several of the 20 smart cities where proposal work has started.

Besides UC and smart deskphones, the big announcement from Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise recently is Rainbow, a cloud service that includes capabilities such as IM, presence, voice and video, and screen and file sharing. Additionally, it offers technology investment protection, no matter what existing communications systems may be in place. Additionally, the company will be introducing new cloud connect capabilities that will allow the connection of its communications services and platforms with platforms from other vendors; it will also provide data usage information in real-time. From there, its systems integrator partners can provide new operations automation, predictive care, and service recommendations. "The ultimate goal of RAINBOW is to reduce telephony expenses in an organization", says Sapru.
