Airtel Wi-Fi Calling service, which was announced last month, now works across all ISPs and has crossed 1 million users in India

Airtel Wi-Fi Calling service now works on all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and is supported by 102 handsets of different brands. Airtel announced that the Voice Over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) service is now available to Airtel consumers across India, and the fact that it can be accessed over any home or public Wi-Fi network has enabled 1 million users to use the service.

“We are delighted with the extremely positive customer response for Airtel Wi-Fi Calling. The technology has truly transformed the indoor network quality for Airtel mobile customers, particularly in high population density areas in urban markets. Airtel is also the first to make the service LIVE across India and our customers can use the feature on any Wi-Fi,” said Randeep Sekhon, CTO, Bharti Airtel.

Airtel Wi-Fi Calling was initially limited to only Airtel Broadband users; however, the company says that the roll-out of the VoWiFi service was accelerated following the “extremely positive customer feedback” they received.
