The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has extended the last date for its scholarship initiatives Pragati, scheme for girls, and Saksham, scheme for specially-abled students. The last date to apply for the AICTE scholarship schemes is now 31 January 2021. AICTE is offering financial assistance of Rs 50,000 per year for those who get selected for these schemes.
AICTE Scholarship Schemes Available at Present
AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girls (Degree and Diploma): This initiative is for female students who are in the first year of their technical degree or diploma, or the second year of degree or diploma level course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved institutions of the respective year, and nearly 5000 scholarships are disbursed under the scheme every year. Furthermore, all eligible girls who submit online scholarship form, from the following 13 union territories and North Eastern States will be given a scholarship by AICTE: Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
Saksham Scholarship Scheme for specially-abled Students (Degree and Diploma): This initiative is aimed at providing encouragement and support to specially-abled children to pursue technical education. Candidates who are in the first year of their technical degree or diploma or second year of degree or diploma level course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved institutions of the respective year can apply for the scheme. All eligible specially-abled students in any of the AICTE approved institutions will receive the scholarship.
Important Guidelines of AICTE Scholarship
- Applicants’ family income should be less than Rs 8 lakhs per annum.
- For the Saksham Scholarship Scheme for specially-abled students, applicants having disability of not less than 40% are eligible.
- Candidates fulfilling the eligibility conditions are required to apply online on National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
- The host institution where the applicant is studying is required to verify the online application.
- The Department of Technical Education (DTE) of the respective State or UT will verify these applications as second level of scrutiny.
- The scholarship will be renewed for the next year of study after the beneficiary submits their application for renewal through the National Scholarship Portal by submitting a passing certificate or marksheet along with letter from the Head of the Institution on the online portal.
- The gap period between the year of passing the qualifying examination and the session of admission in degree course should not be more than two years.
