AICTE has announced that the Master of Computer Application (MCA) program in all All India Council For Technical Education approved institutes or universities has now been changed from three to two years. The issue to reduce the course duration was placed before the 545th Meeting of University Grant Commission held on 19 December 2020, said a notification from AICTE.
The decision was conveyed by the council through a tweet from its official handle. “Important Announcement. Change in the duration of #MCA Program from 3 years to 2 years w.e.f. 2020-21 has been approved,” said the tweet. The MCA course will be of two years duration from2020 to 2021.
Eligibility Required for the AICTE Approved MCA Course
The notification says that candidates with the following eligibility can take the two year MCA program approved by AICTE:
- Students who have passed Bachelor of Computer Application or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent degree.
- Students who have passed Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Arts with mathematics at ten plus twelve levels or at the graduation level with additional bridge courses as per the norms of the concerned university.
- Candidates must have obtained at least 50 percent marks or 45 percent marks in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories in the qualifying examination.
