AICTE Pragati Scheme for Girls in Technology Offers 5000 Scholarships of Rs 50,000 per Annum

AICTE Pragati Scheme for girls in technology will begin soon, and 5000 scholarships will be offered to undergraduate students in degree and diploma courses

Online applications for AICTE Pragati Scheme for girls doing their degree and diploma in technology may soon begin on the National Scholarship portal for the year 2020-21. As part of the scheme, candidates selected for the scholarships receive Rs 50,000 per annum from the government. A total of 5000 scholarships are disbursed every year to AICTE approved institutions.

AICTE says that the scheme aims at providing assistance for the advancement of Girls pursuing technical education. “Education is one of the most important means of empowering women with the knowledge, skill and self-confidence necessary to participate fully in the development process. This is an attempt to give young women the opportunity to further her education and prepare for a successful future by empowering women through technical education” says AICTE.

Who Can Apply for the AICTE Pragati Scheme for Girls?

Interested students will be required to apply on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) after initiation of the application process and notice that will be published on the AICTE website. The institution where the candidate is studying will be required to verify the online application. The NSP portal as of now says that online applications can be submitted until 31 October 2020. The following female candidates can apply for the scholarships:

  • Female candidates admitted in the first year of degree level course, or the second year of degree level course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved Institutions of the respective year can apply.
  • A maximum of two girls from one family can apply.
  • The applicants’ family income should not be over 8 lakhs per annum.

Selected students will receive Rs 50,000 per annum for every year of a maximum of 4 years for first-year admitted students and a maximum of 3 years for the second year admitted students through lateral entry. Those who wish to know more about the scholarship are advised to go through the official notification. Furthermore, students can also attend a webinar on the same topic which will be addressed by AICTE chairman Anil Sahasrabudhe on 14 September 2020.
