AICTE has announced its decision to extend the last date of admission to first year engineering courses of undergraduate and diploma through lateral entry. The last date for admission into All India Council of Technical Education approved institutes and universities is now 30 November 2020 and the last date of commencement of classes of first years is 1 December 2020.

“As we all are aware, that the country is going through a National Emergency that has been prolonged due to the extended outbreak of COVID 19,” said a statement from AICTE. “Due to prolonged emergent conditions in the Country and requests from various State Governments and ongoing admission process of llT's and NIT's, the Council has extended the last date of admission to first-year Engineering courses (UG and Diploma lateral entry),” added the council in the statement.

Other Important Guidelines Issued by AICTE

  • The classes may be started in online, offline or blended mode following the prescribed guidelines or protocols related to COVID-19.
  • Depending on the conditions, the academic calendar may be subjected to further change.
  • Institutions that have already started the classes have been advised to postpone classes or conduct special classes for students who have to undertake final year examinations.
