AICTE has extended the last date for admission into engineering course for all engineering courses namely diploma, diploma lateral entry, under graduation and post graduation until 31 December 2020. The decision has been taken after considering the fact that CET results were announced late in some of the States due to the COVID 19 pandemic, said the All India Council for Technical Education.

Earlier, AICTE has announced that the last date for admission to engineering courses was 30 November 2020 except PGDM and PGCM for whom separate dates had been mentioned. “Due to prolonged emergent conditions in the Country and requests from various State Governments and ongoing admission process of IIT's and NIT's, the Council has extended the last date of admission to first year Engineering courses (UG and Diploma lateral entry) to 30th November 2020. Accordingly last date of commencement of classes of first year is 01.12.202,” AICTE had said.

The board has also asked requested institutions that had already started the classes to either postpone the classes or conduct special classes for students who were required to appear in the final year examination of their graduation or diploma
