Coolpad announced the launch of Cool 1 smartphone from its flagship ‘Cool series’ on December 28. The phone packs a 13 megapixel dual rear camera with dual LED flash in metallic body. Powered with 4000mAh battery, the phone is available in two variants of silver and gold color. The phone is a mix of software and hardware specs from LeEco and Coolpad.

Majorly focusing on the camera, Cool 1 sports advanced features like smart view finder, long exposure mode for professional effect, DSLR mode and 4K video shooting. The first model out of the Cool series is priced at Rs 13,999, which is the lowest among other smartphones having dual camera and advanced features.

In a candid conversation with Dataquest, James Du, Global CEO, Coolpad Group pondered on how certain smartphone features will become a trend in the upcoming year. "Right now there are more and more advanced technologies that are being used in our smartphones. The current trends that we are focusing on are photography features and improved battery performance. But I think that in future we can see growing movement towards Artificial Intelligence (AI) in smartphones." he said.

Mr. Du also gave an update on Coolpad's incorporation with a Russian company to develop a dual display smartphone under their dual-brand strategy. "We have developed a dual display smartphone. This can be one of the advanced technology that we might see become a trend in the near future." he added.
