Satyam Computer Services has acquired a Chicago-based management and consulting
firm, Bridge Strategy Group, for $35 mn, in an all-cash deal. This enhances
Satyams consultancy services capability. Effectively, this forms the fourth
acquisition for Satyam in the last two years.
Dhanus Buys Turkish Co
Chennai-headquartered Dhanus Technologies has acquired Turkeys first
alternative telecom operator, Borusan Telekom. The companys vice chairman, S
Muthukrishnan, says, With 34 POP stations, Borusan offers one of the strongest
alternative networks. It will now contribute to the consolidation of the
market.
Tayana to Buy Axis IT&T
Bangalore-based Tayana Software Solutions, a wholly-owned subsidiary of
Jupiter Strategic Technologies (JSTL), has signed an agreement to acquire 60% of
the equity share capital of Axis IT&T (AXIT), a Delhi-based engineering services
company.
NIIT Buys Stake in Evolv
NIIT has acquired controlling interest in Evolv Management Services (Evolv), a
leading provider of English language and communication training, headquartered
in Noida. Evolv has over hundred employees and has a pan-India presence and
delivery capability.
Oracle to Acquire BEA
Oracle has signed a definitive agreement to acquire BEA Systems for $8.5 bn
in cash. Oracle will acquire all outstanding shares of BEA for $19.4 per share.
This transaction will accelerate the adoption of Java-based middleware
technologies, says Charles Phillips, president of Oracle.
7Seas Acquires Neodelight
Gaming developer 7Seas Technologies has acquired Berlin-based Neodelight,
the gaming division of NeoKolor GBR. This acquisition is an all cash deal, but
the companies refrained from disclosing the value. With this move, 7Seas will
get rights for about 33 games developed by Neodelight and its intellectual
property (IP) rights and also the technology that helps create online games.
IT People Buys Cyberwerx
IT People (India) has acquired the business of Bangalore-based telecom and
networking solutions firm, Cyberwerx Software Solutions, in order to strengthen
its presence in the telecom vertical. Cyberwerx offers customers turnkey product
development strategies and seamless team augmentation in the telecom space.
Sun Snaps up MySQL
Sun Microsystems has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire MySQL
AB, a developer of open source databases, for $1 bn. As part of the transaction,
Sun will pay approximately $800 mn in cash in exchange for all MySQL stock. Sun
has said that the acquisition accelerates its position in enterprise IT to
include the $15 bn database market.
Infogain Acquires Spider
Infogain, a leading provider in CRM, ERP, Integration and Business Intelligence
Solutions and Services, has completed its acquisition, of Spider Systems, Pune.
Post the acquisition Infogain is one of the only mid-size firms that provide
services for Oracle Applications, Peoplesoft, Seibel, Oracle Fusion, as well as
Oracle Retail.
