While Accentures India story, as a whole, has been commendable, the area
where the Bermuda-headquartered firm has built a huge lead is offering high
value BPO services from India. Accenture offers horizontal services such as
customer service, F&A, and procurement as well as vertical-specific services in
many areas, most notably insurance and pharmaceuticals.
What has built the high profile BPO delivery out of India is the fact that
its BPO global delivery is driven out of India by Pankaj Vaish, based in
Bangalore, who earlier headed its India delivery in BPO.

While AT&T, First Horizon and AIG have been its customers out of India, last
year it signed up BT to offer F&A services from India. Accenture also opened a
clinical data management center for the Japanese firm Eisei in Chennai and
extended its existing relationship with Bristol-Myers Squibb. These were in
addition to Wyeth, for which it does similar work. However, other players such
as TCS and Cognizant are increasingly invading this niche for Accenture.
