Gurudutt Nayak, IT Manager, Synergy Consultants |
Gurudutt Nayak, IT Manager at Synergy Consultants, was assigned the task of
deploying a CRM solution for their client, Sumedha Fiscal Services, a stock
broking and merchant banking company, to help them streamline their processes
and save on cost and time. Nayak and his team gauged the situation and realized
that Sumedha was processing a lot of IPO transactions, very low revenue
generator. Sumedha had employed dedicated people in each of its nine branches
across the country for IPO form processing. This was another money guzzler. So,
Nayak came up with the idea of centralizing the IPO processes, so that the
processing work is done from one office by a single person. He set up a simple
online e-form on a portal called www.edeskonline.com, through which a single
person could handle the IPO form distribution all over India. Sumedha also had a
similar problem with their database. Since the data was distributed branch-wise,
access to the data from one branch to the other was difficult. So, Nayaks team
implemented an address book through edeskonline wherein all the data was stored
on the server clouds. Now every Sumedha employee across all branches could
access the databases with just an email ID and password. This saved on time, and
made the process convenient.
Rajendra Paradkar, IT Manager, The Bombay Store |
The Bombay Store is known for promoting traditional Indian designs and is
still a landmark destination in South Mumbai.
Rajendra Paradkar has recently revamped the stores ERP solution called MRMS
(Microsoft Retail Management Software), which was being used for store
management across all its outlets.
But the Bombay Store was working on a customized version of the software
which was creating a lot of errors in bar coding of items. Identifying this
problem, Paradkar took the decision to revamp the application by migrating it to
an extended 360 degree version of the MRMS software which has helped in
enhancing the accuracy of stock positions and inventory management.
Earlier, the store worked according to a consignment concept, where
everything was tracked and coded on the basis of batches and purchase orders.
Now it is able to do it at a more itemized level after having gone out of the
box. Though the solution does not have the capacity to bring all the stores onto
one platform and conduct real-time sharing of data, Paradkar hopes to see that
happen one day.
Going forward, he also plans to give Bombay Store an online presence.
As the next in line to the CIO, Shiv Shankar Datta has his hands full,
handling IT-related queries and managing the vast IT infrastructure of Honda
Motors.
Shiv Shankar Datta, Deputy Manager (IT), Honda Motor India |
Although Datta has been involved with several projects during his stint at
Honda, the Honda Supplier Collaboration Portal (HSCP) is a project closest to
his heart. It was designed to improve the efficiency of all purchasing business
processes and making them capable of handling multiple models and higher volume
production.
Right from the conceptualization stage, Datta was actively involved in
understanding the business situation, planning a solution for the same, and
finally in the execution as well. As one of the most critical aspects of any
project implementation, convincing the management was a difficult task; and
Datta was one of the key people involved in selling the concept to the
management for approval to go ahead with the project. Post implementation, the
interlinking between HSCP and Honda Systems created error-free transactions
between HSCI and the supplier.
As a firm believer in being hands-on along with his IT team, Datta as the IT
Project leader was also involved in the final rollout stage of HSCP.
