"There is a great deal of resilience in our government bodies to open up," exclaims Sam Pitroda, Advisor to the Prime Minister of India while speaking at Google's Big Tent Activate Summit in New Delhi.
He explained how much resistance the government bodies, departments show when they have are being asked to open to new transparent technologies and systems.
"We developed open platforms for government departments and has been providing these to countries like Ghana etc. But when we try to implement that here at our govt departments, they just refuse to open up. There are sections in the government who are not willing to share the data with public domain and leverage open platforms," explains Pitroda.
Having said that, he also insisted that that does not deny the fact that work is in full swing on "various platforms, networks and opening of systems" by him and his team and it will bear fruits soon in coming years.
Pitroda also said that Rs 1 lakh crore have been allocated for creating public information infrastructure. "Basically we are re-designing the government," he noted.
