What is your expansion plan for the continent? What are
the new technology products?
Sanovi had announced early last year about expansion of its R&D center
in Bangalore with investment plans of $10 mn over the next three years and also
plans to double the headcount from 65 to 100 this year. We want to continue to
leverage the Indian talent pool to deliver world-class enterprise software to
the global market. This is in tune with our expansion program of capturing about
8% of the $5 bn market for our enterprise manager software, Panaces that enables
customers to maintain and manage application continuity. Of the Indian APAC
market, we hope to capture $50 mn in the next two years.
We are focused on expanding our Indian sales and support
operations and continue to invest into the Indian market to leverage on the
exponential growth opportunities.
What are the challenges in DR/BC, how can they be
addressed?
According to IDC the Asia-Pacific DR market alone would exceed $1.3 bn by
2006. DR solution is an operational
problem. Customers want to make sure that their investment in DR and BC
solutions ensure 100% uptime of their business critical applications. But 92% of
the CIOs even after implementing DR are not sure or confident about their
solution.
Daily events such as system crashes, upgrades,
reconfigurations, network problems and power failures cause business outage.
Organizations should be capable of resuming their business without any downtime.
BC is a process and not a technology solution and it is not a one-time effort.
BC also includes external interfaces comprising logistics and training. DR
problem can be solved as an operational process through a tool for DR. If there
is proper BC and DR planning-which is otherwise ignored in most
implementations-enables customers to understand their vulnerabilities and
allows risk mitigation. BC is an extended service of DR. BC has a broader scope
than DR. It suggests a proactive approach in keeping the business available.
The heterogeneous environment at the client's end adds to
the complexity of the situation. Again the network, which is integral to the
entire solution, is mostly overlooked. Clients should check for network fail
over and have SLAs with the ISVs also.
