The biggest worry for Vintron Informatics, the Rs
233.9-crore ‘truly-Indian’ hardware player, has been the issue of a
brand pull. Despite crossing the 10,000-mark in PC sales in 1997, the
company managed to sell only 30,575 boxes in 2000-01, clocking revenues of
Rs 99.65 crore, or 42.6% of the total company revenue. Peripherals
continued to bring in a majority of the revenue (52.6%), while
motherboards earned Rs 47.60 crore, or 20.3%.
