One of the fastest-growing IT distributors in the country, this
Mumbai-based subsidiary of Sai Service Stations started off in 1992 as a dealer of Intel chips for OEMs. It has not only graduated to assembling its own Whitebox brand of PCs but also launched motherboards under the Javelin brand. In the fiscal 2000-01, it grew 148%, more than double the previous year’s rate, from Rs 96 crore to Rs 238
crore. Sales of peripherals accounted for 90% of its revenues.
During the year, it tied up with Seagate as its import partner and with Molex India to distribute structured cables and other networking products. It was rated No 2 distributor for Intel products and No 1 for Acer products.
It opened branches in Surat, Lucknow, Cochin, Indore and Nashik, thus establishing its presence in 18 cities. In the ensuing fiscal, it plans to open four more offices, install the JD Edwards ERP package for online branch transactions, and strengthen its services infrastructure. Another plan is to focus on businesses like servers, storage, communication and networking products.
