Let’s take a peek at some of the top trends in cloud computing in 2020.

Hybrid Cloud

This computing setup typically leverages the existing infrastructure , private cloud, and one or many third-party public cloud services to derive the right benefits. This trend is on the rise and will help organizations not only to optimize the TCO but also to leverage the services in the public cloud to provide superior end-user experience.

According to a recent Gartner report, more than 20% of global organizations will aim to deploy serverless technologies in 2020 and beyond. This mode of operation will fundamentally change not just the economics of what is back-end computing but will become the core of the future of distributed computing itself.

With the increasing and globally distributed user-base, complex application architecture, and high-end computing infrastructure is critical to provide a rich end-user experience. This calls for increased usage of computing power and, in turn, more energy. Quantum computing has the potential to limit energy consumption and will have a positive effect not only on the environment but also on the economy.

AI-ML

Every organization tries to leverage data to the hilt to derive business-impacting insights and in the process, they continue to generate more data. It’s not feasible to have the right products and solutions on-premise and the cloud computing services are the right way to get the desired outcome at the right speed and at the lowest cost using the AI/ML technologies.

Disaster Recovery / Security / Compliance

A common area of concern for any organizations of today in using cloud computing is on the security front. However, as all companies are trying to become cloud-native or digital, the most important aspect to be considered is the DR setup and in complying with the various regulations that may be applicable viz., GDPR, HIPAA, etc.

Even the slightest downtime means loss of revenue, dip in customers and damage to the brand reputation. The public cloud offers multiple solutions in meeting all of these requirements and using the same could be the right approach for the organizations.

In 2020, companies looking to drive growth during COVID have to evaluate and deploy the best cloud computing solutions, or be left falling behind.
