TippingPoint, a division of 3Com, has launched the
TippingPoint X505, the first integrated security platform built upon Intrusion
Prevention System (IPS) technology, combining stateful inspection firewall,
IPSec VPN, bandwidth management, Web content filtering and dynamic routing. The
new platform meets the growing demand of enterprise customers to have a more

"The TippingPoint X505 is a very good representation of
what the integration between 3Com and TippingPoint can bring — the enterprise
stability and reliability of 3Com and the sophisticated cutting edge technology
from TippingPoint," said Sanjay Manohar, country manager, 3Com India. Denny
Sam Thekenal, technical manager, 3Com India said, "Intrusion Prevention
Systems add intelligence into the network with the ability to inspect traffic
through Layer 7, classify it and take action according to policy as well as the
capability for automatic, preemptive threat protection through an update
service. The TippingPoint X505 demonstrates the broader trend toward IPS as
today's 'must-have' security solution, with firewalls becoming a feature
of IPS."
