Onward Novell Software (I) Ltd, which provides a wide range of prod-ucts and allied

support services to its channel partners and end-users, did business worth Rs 90 crore

last year. A 50:50 joint venture company between US-based Novell Inc. and Onward

Technologies, the company delivers Novell's network software products through a national

multi-tiered distribution channel serving customers of every size.

The year 1997 saw the successful launch of IntranetWare in the country, rollout

of Novell Authorized Service Centers (NASCs), hardware certification programs for the

Indian marketplace, nationwide launch of Novell Certified Internet Professional, and

bundling of IntranetWare for small business with OEM vendors like Compaq, IBM, Wipro Acer,

and Zenith. It signed marketing agreements with over 50 IT vendors, which include almost

all major Indian hardware vendors representing most of the global brands. It also

distributes software in Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

Novell Education Programs ensure that administrators, resellers, consultants, and other

Novell users have the knowledge and tools to provide maintenance, service, support or

training for Novell networks. Onward Novell has declared Aptech, CMC, Datapro, MicroLand,

Tulec amongst others as Novell Authorized Education Centers to impart training on Novell

products. The company conducts CNE/MCNE/CAN/CNI tests at its regional offices, with its

tie-up with Sylvan Prometric Pty, USA. Novell Developer Services include programs and

tools to assist software developers in creating applications that extend the capabilities

of Novell software.

Onward Novell also plans to strengthen the support provided to its customers by setting

up a network of NASCs. Through NASC, Onward Novell will provide a broad and flexible

program of support services for channel partners and customers of all sizes. Onward Novell

has launched 'YES' Certification program in India to help customers easily identify and

purchase third-party hardware and software products that are compatible with Novell

productline. Novell NetWare and IntranetWare form the core family of server operating

systems. Border Manager allows extension of a corporate network into an extranet.

GroupWise is a leading family of collaboration and email products and ManageWise is a

growing network management solution. Novell Directory Services is available on Novell and

other major operating platforms with embedded support in over 2000 applications.

Proposed initiatives of the year 1998 are the launch of NetWare 5, leveraging Novell's

global relationship with Oracle in India, launch of NetWare for small business, NetWare 5

education course rollout, and launch of Novell's new Certified Internet Professional

Course.
