Fiscal 2000-01 was exceptionally good for this Delhi-based storage media major–a more than two-fold growth in revenues, and a firm place among the top-five optical media players in the world. The company attributed the performance to a sharp rise in sale of branded products in key European markets and the addition of large OEM accounts. Nearly 91% of the revenues came from exports, a major chunk of which was accounted for by Europe. Moser Baer also set up a subsidiary in the US to expand its hold on the US market.
The company has a marketing and distribution network in 27 countries serviced by seven distribution centers, marketing offices and subsidiaries. It has instituted an investment of Rs 800 crore for expansion and setting up of a new plant in India. Moser Baer has also earmarked $20 million for overseas acquisitions, particularly in South America and Japan. Moser Baer entered the audio media market through a tieup with Germany-based Emtec Magnetics GmbH. Fiscal 2000-01 saw Moser Baer record revenues of Rs 336
crore, up 233%. Net profit also went up by 214% to Rs 139 crore.
