24. Tata Infotech: Half-throttle?

The strategy to focus on systems integration helped the

Mumbai-based major garner Rs 524 crore in revenues and clock a growth of 21%. The manufacturing division was integrated with the SI division, which saw share in domestic revenues nearly double from last year’s 31% to 61% this time around. Net profits wore a happy look too, more than doubling to Rs 27 crore (previous year’s figure was Rs 12

crore).

Revenues from exports were up 10% to 60%, and fetched Rs 316 crore. There were some large clients bagged as well, including Metropolitan Life and National City. And the biggest Bann implementation order came from the department of supply, Botswana. Tata Infotech also tied up with Consilience of South Africa to market and develop its SI business. At home, major projects came from Central Ground Water Board and RBI.

Baan, SAP and Oracle implementation in corporates were other highlights. The company restructured the education division, opting for a close partnership model, discrading the affiliate model. It has about 80 partners and plans to take that up to 150.
