Tata Elxsi, the global design and technology services company and a part of the 100 Billion USD Tata group, announced the launch of the third edition of IGNITE Design Contest.

Last year we received some really intuitive concept ideas from design colleges across the country for the theme ‘Design enriching everyday life’. The winners of the 2013 Ignite Design contest were Arjun Rajkumar S – NID, Ahmedabad and Fijoy Francis – NTTF, Bangalore who submitted design concepts on Age-friendly Kitchen Appliances for the elderly and Smart TV for the Indian Youth : Redefining the in-television.

The theme for this year’s Ignite Design Contest – 2014 is ‘Wearable Technology: Envisioning the Future’. Participants are required to submit ideas for wearables in three focus areas – Healthcare & Fitness, Communication and Security.

Ignite Design Contest seeks cutting-edge product ideas, services and applications for Wearable devices. The concepts should be creative, intuitive, marketable and easy to use.

Two best concepts / ideas will win pebble smart watches and Winners Certificate of Appreciation. The contest is open to design students pursuing their full-time Undergraduate and Post Graduate courses in Design.

Commenting on the contest, Nick Talbot – Global Design and Innovation Head, Tata Elxsi said, “At Tata Elxsi we believe that for brands to set themselves apart, design and technological innovation plays an important role. The contest aims to inspire India’s next-generation of designers; promote design thinking amongst them and help create new connected experiences. We also want to encourage students to implement previously learned knowledge in design in a fun and competitive environment. We hope to see some rich and innovative ideas from students across India this year which is set to re-define the digital culture and people’s lives”.
