The partnership between Micron and IIT Roorkee encompasses various facets, including advancing research in technology fields, offering hands-on learning opportunities for students, facilitating industry-relevant training, and enhancing recruitment activities. The establishment of the Micron Semiconductor Lab, which focuses on enhancing technical skills and resources, is a testament to this commitment. Through internships, fellowships, and specialized degree programs, students at IIT Roorkee will receive comprehensive training supported by an augmented curriculum and guidance from a dedicated panel of professors.

In a gesture of support towards the collaborative efforts between IIT Roorkee and Micron, the alumni class of 1996 has pledged sponsorship for the "Rahul Aggarwal-96 Chair" at the institute. This chair, named after alumnus Rahul Aggarwal, will catalyze research and academic initiatives within the Micron Semiconductor Lab, focusing on chip design, technology, modeling, characterization, and product development. Supported by industry and academia, this initiative aims to further enhance the capabilities of the semiconductor sector in India.

“As a part of our University Research Alliance, Micron (URAM) outreach, this initiative aligns well with the thrust areas of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). We are grateful for the support and collaboration from the alumni class of 1996. As an alumnus of this esteemed institution, this initiative holds a special place in my heart”, stated Anand Ramamoorthy, managing director at Micron India.
