Making use of mobility, automation of production floor using LCA: V Ranganathan Iyer, JBM Group, CIO

JBM Group is an organization that provides customers with products, services and innovative solutions. The Group has a diversified portfolio to serve in the field of automotive, engineering & design services, renewable energy and education sectors etc. It is primarily a Tier- 1 supplier to the automotive OEM industry and caters services to esteemed customers.

With such a dynamic company, CIO faces challenges to live up to the expectation of the company. They have a lot of pressure to be innovative, balancing the IT budget and motivate the IT employees.

2016 has been a phenomenal year for the company. "As CIO of JBM, I remember 2016 for Automation initiative as main break through. We started working LCA (Low Cost Automation) related projects, which are related to Manufacturing Plants, where in we are focusing on Technology deployment to enhance any one or more like, increasing the efficiency of the man or machine or Process. This is new to IT and we just started working on this and entering into very different type of world and enjoying it" said Ranganathan Iyer, JBM Group, CIO.

According to him, the two tech priorities for the coming year are:

1. How harness the full potentials of SAP which is being used across organization which is going to help us in reducing cost is the first priority.

2. How to make use of mobility, automation of production floor using LCA as basic thing in mind.

For him, do it yourself is the mantra. Do as many small things yourself instead of taking help from others. Avoid helping hands to maximize utilization of our own self, which will increase the health of our own self.

For example, clean your car yourself, go and have water where it is available at home and office, Clean your utensils after taking food, go to others office if you have some points for discussions etc.

This is not new being a South Indian, I forgot to do it myself after staying here in Delhi for more than 28+ years and bringing old value system back in to my habits.
