This is a curious case in tech. In 2006, rumor mills were agog that HP (unified that time) was on the threshold of acquiring Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) for about $14 bn. But it died as a rumor. But in 2016, CSC acquired HPE's (the enterprise division of the two independent HP’s the other being HP Inc. catering to printers and peripherals) servcies business.

HPE merging its Enterprise Services business with CSC in a tax-free spin-off was seen as a strategic move as it creates a pure-play services entity in which the combined synergies will give the new entity to take on the highly fragmented yet a polarized IT outsourcing market.

Post the merger, CSC has been busy putting place the synergies and realigning its competencies. Recently the merged entity was christened as DXC Technology.

Coinciding with the global launch of DXC Technology in the first week of April this year, the Indian arm of DXC Technology was also announced with new leadership.

Speaking to Dataquest, Samson David, SVP, Commercial Delivery, Offering Delivery and Transformation and India Co-Managing Director, DXC Technology walked through the unique positioning of the company.

He says, “ If you look at what has happened to our clients over the last many years is the diverse range of technologies they have acquired. You have the mainframes to client-server technologies to latest ones. So there is a lot of heterogeneity. It is this backdrop DXC inherits.”

“ In our perspective, three things matter most and act as a client enabler. One, they need to run their core  and run it with hyper-efficiency. The second aspect is the clients need to renew their tech landscape- whether it be apps or infrastructure- the whole tech eco-system. The third critical element is the ability to re-imagine and get a grip on how the future is going to be.”

“So if you look at these three perspectives, we are part and parcel of the entire transformational journey by enabling the clients to take on to the digital transformational challenges and enabling them to do technology differently and and hasten innovation.  This is what DXC Technology is all about - bringing in the much-needed relevance on to the client environments,” says Samson.

Being relevant to market demands calls for high degree of agility and leverage in terms of skill delivery that forms the crux of outsourcing.

In tune with that, the company is realigning its skill sets across the board through various skilling initiatives. Commenting on that, Sreekanth Arimanithaya, SVP, Integrated Workforce Management, and India Co-Managing Director, DXC Technology, India says, “ In this new normal, it is imperative to re-skill the people to the changing dynamics. One may call it Next Gen HR in which we have mapped the competencies across the board and making appropriate measures in making the employees relevant to market place needs.”

“ I will call it a challenge of ‘Skill and Scale’. It’s a delicate balance and with the infusion of HR recalibration exercises, we are achieving this balance. I would also like to say that DXC India is a hotbed of innovation, with over a third of global workforce based out of India, spread across nine cities and delivering end-to-end solutions to over 1,000 clients across all geographies. We have demonstrated traction on delivering solutions that are most appropriate to their current requirements as well as future business needs.”

Adds Marshal Correia, MD, India Sales & Coverage Leader, DXC Technology India, “ With strong IP in industries such as Insurance and Healthcare, DXC Technology India will be in a position of strength to serve a large client base across Insurance, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Public Sector, Travel, and Transportation. We see tremendous long terms growth opportunity in India."
