Dave Goldberg, SurveyMonkey CEO & Husband of Facebook’s COO Sheryl Sandberg Dies

SurveyMonkey’s CEO and husband of Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, Dave Goldberg died unexpectedly on Friday night at the age of 47.

The news was made public in a Facebook post from Goldberg’s brother Robert Goldberg which says, “It’s with incredible shock and sadness that I’m letting our friends and family know that my amazing brother, Dave Goldberg, beloved husband of Sheryl Sandberg, father of two wonderful children, and son of Paula Goldberg, passed away suddenly last night.” “In this time of sorrow, we mourn his passing and remember what an amazing husband, father, brother, son and friend he was.” The family did not disclose the cause of death.

Goldberg joined SurveyMonkey, which helps organizations conduct surveys, in 2009. On the heels of a $250 mn round of funding, he was working on products that would take SurveyMonkey beyond the basic idea of collecting data through online surveys, and into a particularly interesting and timely area of enterprise big data.
