Reliance Acquires VANCO
Reliance Globalcom, a subsidiary of Reliance Communications, has announced
that it has signed an agreement to acquire London-headquartered VANCO Group, a
managed network services provider for $76.9 mn (Rs 327 crore). The acquisition
would add $365 mn (Rs 1,550 crore) to the annual revenue of Reliance Globalcom.
VANCO increases the Reliance Globalcoms tally of enterprise customers to over
1,400.
Avnet to Takeover Ontrack
Avnet has announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire
Ontrack Solutions, a Mumbai-based systems integrator. Post acquisition, Ontrack
will become part of the operations of Avnet Technology Solutions Asia Pacific.
Adea Seeks Funds
Announcing the vision for next year, Adea Technologies announced that it
would seek funding from private equities to carry out its future acquisitions.
All our acquisitions have been funded internally so far, but we will look at
funding for a couple of acquisitions through private equity, said Abid Abedi,
chairman, Adea Technologies. The company is in search of companies in the US,
the UK, and Canada.
IBS Buys VISaer
Provider of IT solutions to the travel, transportation, and logistics
industries, IBS Software has completed the acquisition of Boston-based VISaer, a
player in aviation maintenance and engineering software solutions. VISaer will
operate as IBS Technics, a fully owned subsidiary of IBS.
nGenera Acquires Talisma
nGenera has acquired Talisma, a provider of customer interaction management
software solutions. The company did not disclose financial terms of the deal.
Talismas complete feature set will be extended with nGeneras Web 2.0
collaboration tools. nGenera will incorporate the full Talisma CIM suite of
applications as a set of composite on-demand apps into the nGen customer
offering, giving current and future enterprise customers powerful ways to
interact with customers, including new product co-creation and voice of the
customer programs.
Yahoo Open to Value Maximizing Deal with MS
Yahoo has confirmed with Microsoft that it is not interested in pursuing an
acquisition of all of Yahoo! at this time. Microsoft had announced about
reviewing the possibilities of an alternative transaction with Yahoo!. Yahoo!
said that the company and its board of directors continue to consider a number
of value maximizing strategic alternatives for Yahoo.
Wayport Acquires DNA WLAN Network
Wayport, a provider of converged network solutions to enable breakthrough
network applications, has announced the acquisition of Finlands DNA WLAN
network. The acquired network consists mainly of hotels and congress centers,
along with other venues like cafs and the Helsinki International Airport.
OleOle Acquires Arseblog
OleOle, a provider of social media platform for football, has acquired and
integrated Arseblog, the award-winning website focused on Arsenal FC. Arseblogs
daily posts, breaking news, exclusive features, interviews, and podcasts, known
as Arsecasts, can now be found on OleOle.com. We are delighted that Arseblog

Comcast to Buy Plaxo
Comcast will acquire social networking start-up Plaxo. Terms of the
transaction were not disclosed. But sources put the value up to $175 mn.
Comcast has an exciting vision to bring the social media experience to
mainstream consumers, Plaxo has said. Plaxo, founded in 2001, offers an online
address book service that can automatically update contact information, and last
August started a more traditional social networking service called Plaxo Pulse.
Qualcomm Acquires 40 MHz Spectrum in UK
Qualcomm has announced that it has acquired 40 MHz (1452-1492 MHz) of L-Band
radio spectrum recently auctioned by UK communications regulator Ofcom, at a
cost of 8.3 mn. The spectrum will allow Qualcomm, in collaboration with its
partners, to bring a variety of innovative wireless technologies to the UK
market. The spectrum acquired by Qualcomm covers the entire UK and is technology
neutral, enabling Qualcomm to use it for innovative technologies, depending on
its assessment of market needs in the United Kingdom.
CBS to Acquire CNET for $1.8 bn
Media major CBS has announced its decision to acquire digital media content
company CNET Networks, owner of numerous entertainment and information websites.
CBS announced that it will buy CNET for $11.50 a share, or $1.8 bn. The US
broadcaster said the CNET acquisition would transform it into one of the 10 most
popular Internet companies in the US with 54 mn monthly unique users.
Ask.com to Acquire Lexico
Ask.com, a leading search engine and wholly-owned business of IAC, has announced
to acquire Lexico Publishing Group, the owner of Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com,
and Reference.com, in an all-cash transaction. Lexico is a lean and
fast-growing business with rapid top- and bottom-line growth, and is a natural
addition for Ask.com, said Jim Safka, CEO of Ask.com. More than 30% of all
searches conducted on Ask.com are in the reference category. This acquisition
