Aztecsoft: Unable to Keep Pace
Aztecsofts position dropped from #7 in 2006 to #18 this year,
one of the biggest drops within the list. While its showing in both HR and
employee satisfaction, the sharper drop of 25 places was in HR ranks.
Aztecsoft is into one of the highest valued opportunities within
the IT industrythe software product engineering space. But it listed itself
too early in the game. That forced it to limit its exposure to risk. Aztec, to
limit risk, targets larger ISVs, who usually outsource low-end work. That
creates not just margin problems, it also leaves the (technology-crazy Indian)
employees dissatisfied.

Being listed, the company often gets benchmarked against the IT
services firms. So justifying larger salaries also is a challenge. However, the
employees are fairly satisfied with the growth opportunities, thanks to the
potential of the area.
Aricent: Training Slide-Show
The name change from Flextronics Software did not spell good
news for employees as satisfaction levels dipped owing to confusion over future
growth. Employees were also found to be dissatisfied with their individual
overall growth in the company primarily due to managers not paying enough
attention to growth prospects of their team members. Though Aricent introduced
Skipa program that allows employees to interact directly with their managers
manager undermining the possibility of any bias.

Even though the company, claims it to have increased employee
engament exercises by 20%, and established Nalanda University (an in-house
training center) the HR score of Aricent went down mainly due to training. The
company attributes slide in the HR score to its stress on the on-the-job
training instead of the traditional classroom-style training.
Geometric Software Solutions: Niche Magic
For Geometric Software, a player in the high-profile engineering
services space, it is a double-edged sword. While it attracts talent because of
the excitement about the area, it has to incur all the training expense as very
few trained people are available in this space. Further, the fact that many
large services companies have entered this space means it is no longer a niche,
and the employees benchmark it against the likes of TCS, Neilsoft, Patni, Rolta
and Tata Technologies, all Mumbai/Pune-based companies playing in the same
space.

Yet, the biggest concern for employees was not the pay packet or
perks, it was corporate governance and leadership, which were able to drive
growth. The company fared poorly in parameters such as value attached to honesty
and integrity. Page(s) 1 2 3
